During her career, Shiulie has won a string of international awards.

In 2001, Shiulie was named Best Television News Journalist at the British Telecom Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards for her national and international news reports

In 2004 she was nominated as Media Professional of the Year at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards

In 2006, her coverage of the tsunami in Asia gained her international recognition, when she was named as one of the team of reporters whose work earned CNN the prestigious Alfred I. Dupont Columbia News Broadcasting Award

And in 2007, her current affairs programme Everywoman was honored as the Editors' Choice at the Association of International Broadcasting Media Excellence Awards

Shiulie has also been recognised by the academic world; in 2003 she was given an Honorary Masters Degree to mark her media achievements by the University of Teesside in the UK.
